Chile is the world’s second biggest exporter of shelled walnuts.
Annual production amounts to over 60,000 tonnes and grows at 15% per year, according to the latest figures from the industry.
Walnuts are harvested between March and April. Chilean walnuts have better colour, flavour and the shell has a longer life.
In 2014, walnut exports totalled US$ 321 million.
