Frozen fruit and vegetables
The modern development achieved by Chiles’s frozen food processors has enabled them to diversify their exports to include more than 50 types of fruit and vegetables with volumes close to 150,000 tonnes per year.
Most of the products are frozen using the I.Q.F. method. These include raspberries, followed by blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. Prominent among the vegetables exported are asparagus, mushrooms, peas and sweetcorn.
In 2014 frozen fruit and vegetable exports totalled US$ 418 million.
