CHILEPORK SUCCESSFULLY ENDS ASIAN TOUR 2016
In 2015, pork represented 46% of all meat exports from Chile, and 67% of the deliveries of this product were sent to Asia, specifically South Korea, Japan, and China, their primary destinations, according to the figures from ProChile´s Department of Commercial Information.
With the objective of maintaining a strong presence in Asian markets, the sectorial brand ChilePork, which was developed by ProChile, together with the Chilean Pork Producers Association (Asprocer), carried out a series of activities in these three countries during the second week of May.
The commercial bond between ChilePork member companies (AASA, Coexca, Maxagro, and Agrosuper) and their clients was strengthened through actions that were marked by a strong technical aspect. This is why Brett Stuart, international expert and cofounder of the Agritrends consultancy agency, presented information regarding the international meats market, its contingencies, and its future. At the same time, Juan Miguel Ovalle, President of ChilePork gave his vision regarding the Chilean pork industry, highlighting that animal health, food safety, commitment and taste are what characterize the industry.
In China, the sectorial brand was a part of the “Chile in the Sky” event, carried out at the Shanghai World Financial Center, where different Chilean productive sectors in the market participated. This is how after attending the seminar, the guests were able to try a Chilean pork cocktail, accompanied by national wine and the impressive view the SWFC has to offer as the second tallest building in Shanghai.
In South Korea and Japan, in addition to the technical seminar, that had the presence of high authorities, the brand had its traditional golf tournament, providing a space for entertainment and camaraderie for its clients and companies in order to strengthen commercial bonds.
Additionally, there were press conferences at all the markets which allowed ChilePork and its member companies to highlight the technical and technological advances in the national pork industry, its main focus in the creation of long-term commercial bonds and the delivery of tasty and healthy products that are adapted to the needs of their clients.
Juan M. Ovalle, President of ChilePork, stated that, “Japan, China, and South Korea are the main importing markets for pork in the world, and are markets of great relevance to ChilePork. Today, they represent 67% of our shipments. ChilePork maintains its commitment to continue delivering tasty products with the highest standards of quality and food safety, because ChilePork is a reliable partner”.
